Kalverstraat

The Kalverstraat is named after the cattle market with its lively trade in cows, oxen and calves, which took place every day until the year 1629. During the centuries that followed, the Kalverstraat developed into the busiest shopping street in Holland. The shops are mainly targeted at the younger generation. Nowadays the majority of outlets in the Kalverstraat are owned by the large (international) retail chains.

Leidsestraat

One of the most famous shopping streets in Amsterdam is the Leidsestraat. This lively street connects the Leidseplein, the Kalverstraat and Koningsplein. Apart from the fashion and shoe shops you will also find plenty of cheap little restaurants and very popular souvenir shops. Since the 19th century trams are running through the pedestrian street, which gives this area a real urban feel.

PC Hoofstraat

The P.C. Hooftstraat is named after writer, poet and historian Pieter Corneliszoon Hooft. Until 1903 an old horse tram ran through this street which connected the Dam square with the upmarket neighbourhood of 'Willemsparkweg', in the south of Amsterdam. During the last decade the P.C. Hooftstraat has developed into one of the most exclusive shopping streets in the Netherlands. The shops in the P.C. Hooftstraat usually sell exclusive clothing and accessories of world famous brands such as Chanel and Louis Vuitton.

The Nine Street

The Nine streets have many special shops, ones you will not find elsewhere, The tooth brush shop, the candle shop, many clothes shops, shops selling everything from the 1920's, another selling nothing but 50's 60's stuff.  After the 9 streets comes the main Jordan area. the former workers area full of little houses and more unique shops to explore.
You can find that district between the Koningsplein and the Westerkerk, next to Prinsengracht and Herengracht canals.
